What is Thomson Clinical Xpert for PDA?
Thomson Clinical Xpert is a clinical decision
support tool for handhelds developed for Healthcare Professionals by Thomson
PDR®. Clinical Xpert gives you access to drug information on over
4,000 trade names, a complete disease database, a laboratory test module with
details on over 500 tests, toxicology information on 200 of the most common
poisonings and drug overdoses, alternative medicine information on 300 of the
most popular herbals and dietary supplements plus news on FDA announcements,
clinical updates, and upcoming drug launches. The data is written and reviewed
by Thomson MICROMEDEX, the industry's leading provider of evidence-based
decision support.
How can I get Thomson Clinical Xpert?
This new handheld application is available
FREE to registered members of PDR.net, your professional portal with specialty
focused clinical resources including full drug and disease monographs, patient
education, and conference information. To become a PDR Member and to download
Thomson Clinical Xpert, check your eligibility (Access to PDR.net and Thomson
Clinical Xpert is free to U.S. based MDs, DOs, NPs and PAs in full time patient
practice and U.S. medical students and residents. After you complete the PDR
registration, you will be directed to download the Thomson Clinical Xpert
application at www.PDR.net.
On what devices does Thomson Clinical Xpert software run?
The Thomson Clinical Xpert software is
designed for PDAs running on either Palm OS® (3.5 or later) or
Pocket PC.
Will I have to delete the current version from my handheld to load the new,
updated version?
No, "Auto-update" will download the
new version, both program and data, automatically. Automatic updates will allow
customers to automatically receive a new version of Thomson Clinical Xpert any
time the application's content or features are updated. Auto-update technology
will be used every time you HotSync® or ActiveSync® your
PDA. When you select the "sync" button on your PDA's cradle, your PDA
will communicate with Thomson Clinical Xpert via the Internet to make sure it
has the most current version of Thomson Clinical Xpert. If your PDA does not
have the most current version, it will automatically update your PDA during
your sync process.
How much space or memory does Thomson Clinical Xpert require?
Thomson Clinical Xpert offers options to load
any combination of its databases giving you the option to control how much
space you use, and allows you to load only the databases you need or use.
How often is Thomson Clinical Xpert updated?
Thomson Clinical Xpert is updated anytime
there is new data or changes to clinical practice. You automatically receive
the new data as you sync your handheld with Internet access. Both the program
and the data will auto-update during the syncing process.
How can I tell what version of Thomson Clinical Xpert I have on my
PDA?
From the Thomson Clinical Xpert home page on
your PocketPC, select Options and on Palm tap the menu drop down, then select
Data Manager and choose "Ver" to view the version.
