      Lupron Depot-Ped is a medicine used to treat central precocious puberty (a condition in which children enter puberty too soon). Lupron Depot-Ped is administered as intramuscular (into your muscle) injections.

      How does this medication work?

      Lupron Depot-Ped works by decreasing the amount of certain hormones in your body.

      What are the beneficial effects of this medication and when should I begin to have results?

      What: Lupron Depot-Ped may help to suppress signs of puberty, such as breast development.

      When: Everyone responds differently to treatment, so try to be patient and follow your healthcare provider's directions.

      How do I know it is working?

      Your healthcare provider may ask you questions from time to time to assess how well your symptoms are controlled.

    • What are the possible side effects of this medication?

      The following is not a full list of side effects. Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, tell your healthcare provider as soon as possible. Only your healthcare provider can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking this medication.

      More common side effects may include: injection-site pain and swelling, increased weight, headache, changes in your mood.

      Less common side effects may include:

      Lupron Depot-Ped may cause seizures, or a temporary increase in symptoms of puberty (such as vaginal bleeding) during the early phase of therapy.

    • Who should not take this medication?

      Your healthcare provider will not administer Lupron Depot-Ped to you if you are allergic to it, any of its ingredients, or to similar medicines (such as goserelin).

      Your healthcare provider will not administer Lupron Depot-Ped to you if you are pregnant or may become pregnant.

    • What should I tell my healthcare provider before I take the first dose of this medication?

      Tell your healthcare provider about all prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal medications you are taking before beginning treatment with Lupron Depot-Ped. Also, talk to your healthcare provider about your complete medical history, especially if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.

    • What is the usual dosage?

      The information below is based on the dosage guidelines your healthcare provider uses. Depending on your condition and medical history, your healthcare provider may prescribe a different regimen. Do not change the dosage or stop taking your medication without your healthcare provider's approval.

      Children ≥2 years: Your healthcare provider will prescribe the appropriate dose for your child.

      Your healthcare provider will administer Lupron Depot-Ped to you.

    • What should I avoid while taking this medication?

      Do not miss any scheduled follow-up appointments with your healthcare provider.

    • What are the possible food and drug interactions associated with this medication?

      No significant interactions have been reported with Lupron Depot-Ped at this time. However, always tell your healthcare provider about any medicines you take, including over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal supplements.

    • May I receive this medication if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

      Do not receive Lupron Depot-Ped if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Tell your healthcare provider immediately if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
