Naftin cream is a medicine used to treat certain fungal infections such as athlete's foot, jock itch, and certain skin infections.
How does this medication work?
Naftin cream works by stopping the growth of fungus, thereby treating your infection.
What are the beneficial effects of this medication and when should I begin to have results?
What: Naftin cream may help relieve symptoms of your infection and may eliminate the fungus causing the infection.
When: Everyone responds differently to treatment, so try to be patient and follow your healthcare provider's directions. It is important that you use Naftin cream exactly as your healthcare provider has prescribed.
How do I know it is working?
You may start to notice an improvement in your symptoms after beginning treatment with Naftin cream. This is a good indicator that your medication is working. Your healthcare provider may ask you questions to assess how well your infection is being treated.
The following is not a full list of side effects. Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, tell your healthcare provider as soon as possible. Only your healthcare provider can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking this medication.
Side effects may include: itching.
Do not use Naftin cream if you are allergic to it or any of its ingredients.
Tell your healthcare provider about all prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal medications you are taking before beginning treatment with Naftin cream. Also, talk to your healthcare provider about your complete medical history.
The information below is based on the dosage guidelines your healthcare provider uses. Depending on your condition and medical history, your healthcare provider may prescribe a different regimen. Do not change the dosage or stop taking your medication without your healthcare provider's approval.
Adults and children 12-17 years: Apply a thin layer to the affected area(s) once a day for 2 weeks, as directed by your healthcare provider.
Use Naftin cream exactly as your healthcare provider has prescribed. Do not use it more often or stop using Naftin cream without first talking to your healthcare provider.
Do not get Naftin cream in your eyes, mouth, or vagina.
No significant interactions have been reported with Naftin cream at this time. However, always tell your healthcare provider about any medicines you take, including over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
The effects of Naftin cream during pregnancy and breastfeeding are unknown. Tell your healthcare provider immediately if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
If you miss a dose of Naftin cream, use it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the one you missed and return to your regular dosing schedule. Do not apply two doses at once.
Store at room temperature.
In the event of a medical emergency call your doctor or 9-1-1 immediately. In the event of overdose, call your doctor or poison control for further instructions.
