Omnaris is a medicine used to treat nasal symptoms due to seasonal or year-round allergies.
How does this medication work?
Omnaris is thought to work by reducing inflammation in your nose.
What are the beneficial effects of this medication and when should I begin to have results?
What: Omnaris has been shown to improve symptoms associated with allergies; such as runny nose, itching, sneezing, and congestion.
When: You may feel a relief in your nasal symptoms after 24 to 48 hours following your dose of Omnaris, with maximum relief seen within 1 to 2 weeks of starting Omnaris. It is important that you use Omnaris exactly as your healthcare provider has prescribed to feel the full effects.
How do I know it is working?
You may feel an improvement in your nasal symptoms once you begin using Omnaris. This is a good indicator that your medicine is working. Your healthcare provider may ask you questions to assess how well your symptoms are controlled.
The following is not a full list of side effects. Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, tell your healthcare provider as soon as possible. Only your healthcare provider can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking this medication.
More common side effects may include: headache, nosebleeds, stuffy nose, ear pain, sore throat, dizziness.
Less common side effects may include:
Nasal problems such as holes in the cartilage of your nose with symptoms such as crusting in your nose, nosebleeds, runny nose, or a whistling sound when you breathe.
Thrush (a fungal infection of the nose, mouth, throat, or tongue) with symptoms such as discomfort or pain in your throat, hoarseness in your voice, or redness or white colored patches in your mouth or throat.
Weakened immune system and a higher chance of infections with symptoms such as fever, pain, aches, chills, tiredness, nausea, or vomiting.
Adrenal insufficiency (a disorder where the body does not make enough of certain hormones), with symptoms such as tiredness, weakness, dizziness, or nausea and vomiting that does not go away.
Serious allergic reactions, with symptoms such as swelling of your face, throat, and tongue; hives; rash; or breathing problems.
Slowed growth in children.
Eye problems, including glaucoma (high pressure in the eye) and cataracts.
Do not use Omnaris if you are allergic to it or any of its ingredients.
Tell your healthcare provider about all prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal medications you are taking before beginning treatment with Omnaris. Also, talk to your healthcare provider about your complete medical history, especially if you have had recent nose problems such as a hole in the cartilage of your nose, nasal ulcers, nasal surgery, or nasal injury; eye problems (including glaucoma or cataracts); infections (including tuberculosis or herpes); have been exposed to chickenpox or measles; or if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
The information below is based on the dosage guidelines your healthcare provider uses. Depending on your condition and medical history, your healthcare provider may prescribe a different regimen. Do not change the dosage or stop taking your medication without your healthcare provider's approval.
Adults and children ≥6 years: The recommended dose is 2 sprays per nostril once a day.
Use Omnaris exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. Do not use it more often without first talking to your healthcare provider.
Shake gently before use.
Use Omnaris on a regular basis.
If your symptoms do not improve or get worse, contact your healthcare provider.
Please review the instructions that came with your prescription on how to properly use your spray.
Do not come in contact with anyone who has chickenpox or measles while you are using Omnaris.
Do not spray Omnaris in your eyes or directly on your nasal septum (the wall between the 2 nostrils).
Do not use more than a total of 2 sprays in each nostril per day.
No significant interactions have been reported with Omnaris at this time. However, always tell your healthcare provider about any medicines you take, including over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
The effects of Omnaris during pregnancy and breastfeeding are unknown. Tell your healthcare provider immediately if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
If you miss a dose of Omnaris, skip the one you missed and return to your regular dosing schedule. Do not spray two doses at once.
Store at room temperature. Do not freeze.
In the event of a medical emergency call your doctor or 9-1-1 immediately. In the event of overdose, call your doctor or poison control for further instructions.
