How does this medication work?
Parafon Forte DSC is thought to work in your central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord) to relieve pain and discomfort.
What are the beneficial effects of this medication and when should I begin to have results?
What: Parafon Forte DSC may help relieve pain associated with strains, sprains, and other muscle injuries.
When: Everyone responds differently to treatment, so try to be patient and follow your healthcare provider's directions. It is important that you take Parafon Forte DSC exactly as your healthcare provider has prescribed.
How do I know it is working?
You may feel less pain and discomfort after you start taking Parafon Forte DSC. This is a good indicator that the medicine is working. Your healthcare provider may ask you questions to assess how well your symptoms are controlled.
The following is not a full list of side effects. Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, tell your healthcare provider as soon as possible. Only your healthcare provider can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking this medication.
More common side effects may include: drowsiness; dizziness; lightheadedness; general feeling of discomfort, illness, or lack of well-being.
Less common side effects may include:
Liver problems with symptoms such as fever, rash, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, tiredness, right upper abdominal (stomach area) pain, dark urine, or yellowing of your skin or the whites of your eyes.
Do not take Parafon Forte DSC if you are allergic to it or any of its ingredients.
Tell your healthcare provider about all prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal medications you are taking before beginning treatment with Parafon Forte DSC. Also, talk to your healthcare provider about your complete medical history, especially if you have allergies or a history of allergic reactions to medicines.
The information below is based on the dosage guidelines your healthcare provider uses. Depending on your condition and medical history, your healthcare provider may prescribe a different regimen. Do not change the dosage or stop taking your medication without your healthcare provider's approval.
Adults: The usual dose is 1 caplet three or four times a day. Your healthcare provider may adjust your dose as needed, until the desired effect is achieved.
Take Parafon Forte DSC exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. Do not change your dose or stop taking Parafon Forte DSC without first talking to your healthcare provider.
Do not drink alcohol or take medicines that make you sleepy without first checking with your healthcare provider.
No significant interactions have been reported with Parafon Forte DSC at this time. However, always tell your healthcare provider about any medicines you take, including over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbals supplements.
The effects of Parafon Forte DSC during pregnancy are unknown. Tell your healthcare provider immediately if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
If you miss a dose of Parafon Forte DSC, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the one you missed and return to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take two doses at once.
Store at room temperature.
In the event of a medical emergency call your doctor or 9-1-1 immediately. In the event of overdose, call your doctor or poison control for further instructions.
