    • What is this medication and its most common uses?

      Xofigo is a medicine used to treat prostate cancer that is resistant to medical or surgical treatments and has spread to your bones but not to other parts of your body. Xofigo is administered intravenously (directly into a vein).

      How does this medication work?

      Xofigo works by having anti-tumor effects on cancer that has spread to your bones.

      What are the beneficial effects of this medication and when should I begin to have results?

      What: Xofigo may help to improve symptoms associated with prostate cancer that have spread to the bones.

      When: Everyone responds differently to treatment, so try to be patient and follow your healthcare provider's directions.

      How do I know it is working?

      Your healthcare provider may order tests regularly to check how well this medication is working.

    • What are the possible side effects of this medication?

      The following is not a full list of side effects. Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, tell your healthcare provider as soon as possible. Only your healthcare provider can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking this medication.

      Common side effects may include: nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, swelling of the arms or legs, low blood cell counts.

    • Who should not take this medication?

      Your healthcare provider will not administer Xofigo to you if you are allergic to it or any of its ingredients.

      Your healthcare provider will not administer Xofigo to you if you are pregnant.

    • What should I tell my healthcare provider before I take the first dose of this medication?

      Tell your healthcare provider about all prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal medications you are taking before beginning treatment with Xofigo. Also, talk to your healthcare provider about your complete medical history, especially if you have bone marrow problems.

    • What is the usual dosage?

      The information below is based on the dosage guidelines your healthcare provider uses. Depending on your condition and medical history, your healthcare provider may prescribe a different regimen. Do not change the dosage or stop taking your medication without your healthcare provider's approval.

      Men: Your healthcare provider will prescribe the appropriate dose for you based on your weight.

    • How should I take this medication?

      Your healthcare provider will administer Xofigo to you.

      Drink plenty of fluids and notify your healthcare provider of any signs of dehydration (such as dry mouth or increased thirst) or urinary retention (an inability to urinate normally).

      Bathroom hygiene is important because radioactivity is present in urine and feces after treatment. After using the bathroom, wash your hands thoroughly and flush the toilet several times. If bodily waste gets into your clothing, wash it separately immediately. Be sure to practice good personal hygiene while receiving Xofigo and for at least 1 week after the last injection.

      It is important that men use condoms and their female partners who may become pregnant use appropriate birth control during treatment with Xofigo and for at least 6 months after treatment.

    • What should I avoid while taking this medication?

      Do not miss any scheduled follow-up appointments with your healthcare provider.

    • What are the possible food and drug interactions associated with this medication?

      No significant interactions have been reported with Xofigo at this time. However, always tell your healthcare provider about any medicines you take, including over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal supplements.

    • May I receive this medication if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

      This medication is not for use in women.

    • What should I do if I miss a dose of this medication?

      Xofigo should be given under special circumstances determined by your healthcare provider. If you miss your scheduled dose, contact your healthcare provider or pharmacist for advice.

    • How should I store this medication?

      Your healthcare provider will store this medication for you.
