      Select-OB is a vitamin used to help supplement the diet in women before, during, and after pregnancy.

    • What should I know when beginning and continuing on this medication?

      How does this medication work?

      Each Select-OB caplet provides 13 essential vitamins and minerals (including folic acid and iron). Vitamins are natural substances and help your body grow and function normally.

      What are the beneficial effects of this medication and when should I begin to have results?

      What: Select-OB provides the essential vitamins and minerals your body needs to support your baby's growth.

      When: Everyone responds differently to treatment, so try to be patient and follow your healthcare provider's directions. It is important that you take Select-OB exactly as your healthcare provider has prescribed.

      How do I know it is working?

      Your healthcare provider may order tests to ensure adequate vitamin supplementation.

    • What are the possible side effects of this medication?

      The following is not a full list of side effects. Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, tell your healthcare provider as soon as possible. Only your healthcare provider can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking this medication.

      Accidental overdose of iron (a component of Select-OB) may result in serious harm and may be life-threatening in children <6 years. Keep Select-OB in a safe place away from children. In case of accidental overdose, call your healthcare provider or poison control center immediately.

      Side effects may include: vision problems, stomach complaints, changes in your blood sugar levels, allergic reactions.

    • Who should not take this medication?

      Do not take Select-OB if you are allergic to it or any of its ingredients.

      Do not take Select-OB if you have anemia (low red blood cell counts), hemochromatosis (a condition in which your body absorbs too much iron from your diet), or problems with iron storage.

    • What should I tell my healthcare provider before I take the first dose of this medication?

      Tell your healthcare provider about all prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal medications you are taking before beginning treatment with Select-OB. Also, talk to your healthcare provider about your complete medical history, especially if you have high blood calcium levels, or if you have kidney stones.

    • What is the usual dosage?

      The information below is based on the dosage guidelines your healthcare provider uses. Depending on your condition and medical history, your healthcare provider may prescribe a different regimen. Do not change the dosage or stop taking your medication without your healthcare provider's approval.

      Adults: The usual dose is one caplet once a day, or as directed by your healthcare provider.

    • How should I take this medication?

      Take Select-OB exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider.

      You may chew or swallow the Select-OB caplet.

      If you are taking certain antibiotics, space at least 2 hours apart. It is important that you tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines you are taking.

    • What should I avoid while taking this medication?

      Do not change your dose or stop taking Select-OB without first talking to your healthcare provider.

    • What are the possible food and drug interactions associated with this medication?

      If Select-OB is taken with certain other drugs, the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. It is especially important to check with your healthcare provider before combining Select-OB with the following: carbamazepine, certain antibiotics, fosphenytoin, methotrexate, phenobarbital, phenytoin, or valproic acid.

    • May I receive this medication if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

      Select-OB can be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

    • What should I do if I miss a dose of this medication?

      If you miss a dose of Select-OB, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the one you missed and return to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take two doses at once.

    • How should I store this medication?

      Store at room temperature. Protect from excessive heat, light, and moisture.
