    • What is this medication and its most common uses?

      Select-OB+DHA is a vitamin used to help supplement the diet in women before, during, and after pregnancy. Select-OB+DHA is packaged as two separate caplets/softgel capsules.

    • What should I know when beginning and continuing on this medication?

      How does this medication work?

      Each Select-OB caplet provides 13 essential vitamins and minerals (including folic acid and iron). Vitamins are natural substances and help your body grow and function normally. Each softgel capsule contains DHA (an essential fatty acid) that may help support brain growth.

      What are the beneficial effects of this medication and when should I begin to have results?

      What: Select-OB+DHA provides the essential vitamins and minerals your body needs to support your baby's growth.

      When: Everyone responds differently to treatment, so try to be patient and follow your healthcare provider's directions. It is important that you take Select-OB+DHA exactly as your healthcare provider has prescribed.

      How do I know it is working?

      Your healthcare provider may order tests to ensure adequate vitamin supplementation.

    • What are the possible side effects of this medication?

      The following is not a full list of side effects. Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, tell your healthcare provider as soon as possible. Only your healthcare provider can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking this medication.

      Accidental overdose of iron (a component of Select-OB+DHA) may result in serious harm and may be life threatening. Keep Select-OB+DHA in a safe place away from children.

      Side effects may include: high blood calcium levels, bone pain, high blood pressure, kidney and heart problems, kidney stones. 

    • Who should not take this medication?

      Do not take Select-OB+DHA if you are allergic to it or any of its ingredients, including cobalt and vitamin B12.

      Do not take Select-OB+DHA if you have certain types of anemia (low red blood cell count) or hemochromatosis (high iron blood levels).

      Do not take Select-OB+DHA if you have iron storage disease or cirrhosis (scarring of the liver). 

    • What should I tell my healthcare provider before I take the first dose of this medication?

      Tell your healthcare provider about all prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal medications you are taking before beginning treatment with Select-OB+DHA. Also, talk to your healthcare provider about your complete medical history, especially if you have a soy allergy, high calcium levels, kidney stones, hyperparathryroidism (overactive parathyroid gland), anemia, low vitamin B12 levels, or a bleeding disorder.

    • What is the usual dosage?

      The information below is based on the dosage guidelines your healthcare provider uses. Depending on your condition and medical history, your healthcare provider may prescribe a different regimen. Do not change the dosage or stop taking your medication without your healthcare provider's approval.

      Adults: The recommended dose is one blue caplet and one softgel capsule once a day.

    • How should I take this medication?

      Take Select-OB+DHA exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider.

      You may chew or swallow the blue-colored Select-OB caplet. The softgel capsule may only be swallowed.

    • What should I avoid while taking this medication?

      Do not change your dose or stop taking Select-OB+DHA without first talking to your healthcare provider.

    • What are the possible food and drug interactions associated with this medication?

      If Select-OB+DHA is used with certain other drugs, the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. It is especially important to check with your healthcare provider before combining Select-OB+DHA with the following: anti-seizure medications (such as carbamazepine and phenytoin) or certain antibiotics (such as ciprofloxacin and tetracycline).

    • May I receive this medication if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

      Select-OB+DHA can be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

    • What should I do if I miss a dose of this medication?

      If you miss a dose of Select-OB+DHA, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the one you missed and return to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take two doses at once.

    • How should I store this medication?

      Store at room temperature. Protect from excessive heat and moisture.
